Mobile Reeeeach

My mobile phone sits here next to me at all times. Like a close companion, I insist it accompany me everywhere.  If we're apart for even a short period of time, I become frantic and begin searching around recklessly. This connection, some might call it an addiction, is spreading rapidly across the globe. Whereas mobile phones used to be a luxury for a select few, they are now a common staple for 4.7 billion people.

Different metrics exists to distinctly capture mobile reach. Here we share data on mobile penetration (the percentage of mobile subscriptions, or SIM cards, in the population), unique mobile penetration (the percentage of individuals with a mobile subscription in the population) and the unique subscribers (number of people with at least one mobile subscription) along with other reports from our two favorite regions: Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean.
