Monitoring real-time PrEP adherence

Partners Mobile Adherence to PrEP (PMAP)

Dr. Jessica Haberer and colleagues used mSurvey to help understand adherence to oral pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in the context of a person's HIV risk (i.e., prevention-effective adherence) in Thika, Kenya and Kampala, Uganda.

A sub-study within the Partners Demonstration Project (n=1,013), PMAP enrolled 393 HIV-negative partners to receive daily surveys through mSurvey asking about their PrEP adherence and sexual behavior for two weeks around each scheduled quarterly study visit.

The study was funded by the U.S. National Institutes of Health, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and the U.S. Agency for International Development.
