Exploring pregnancy outcomes

Unsafe abortion contributes to an estimated one-third of maternal deaths in Kenya yet very little is known about how and where abortions occur.  The GEMMA Fund at Emory University used mSurvey to help understand the feasibility and acceptability of using SMS mobile surveys to ask Kenyan women directly about their pregnancy outcomes.

Researchers sent a one time mobile survey to a random sample of 500 women aged 18-24 in the mSurvey Kenya audience asking about their pregnancy and abortion history and how they felt answering these types of questions over mobile.
