Rethinking access to maternal care

Two-thirds of neonatal deaths and nearly 80% of maternal deaths in Kenya are attributable to delays in accessing care. The Research Care and Training Program of the Family AIDS Care & Education Services (RCTP-FACES) worked with mSurvey to develop mAccess.

Pregnant women in Homa Bay, Kenya receive weekly health messages, live nurse support for answering questions, and transport to a health facility on crowd-sourced motorcycle taxis all through the most accessible mode of communication in rural Kenya: SMS text messaging.
