mSurvey is a mobile-first survey and feedback platform built for scalable conversations as feedback for businesses wanting to connect to consumers across emerging markets. mSurvey focuses on the mobile messaging layer. Our technology connects directly to telcos and Facebook Messenger allowing seamless and scalable, structured conversations with consumers. We aim to engage over 1 billion consumers and are only getting started. We have engaged over 10 million consumers in 2016. Our team is focused on building and being a part of the startup ecosystem in Africa. We are a group of young, creative engineers, business strategy/admin, and problem solvers on the continent with multiple backgrounds including MIT, Columbia and Berkeley.
Who we are looking for:
Engineer who will roll up her/his sleeves and provide technical leadership to major projects, but also guide a team of engineers.
MS in Computer Science or related engineering discipline
Strong foundations in algorithms, data structures and distributed systems
Passionate about mSurvey products and feel ownership over everything you ship
Split time nearly evenly between hands-on coding and guiding teammates
Manage project goals and contribute to product strategy
Write and advocate elegant, readable, and well-documented code
Strong Linux background and moderate knowledge of Linux/Unix System internals
Expert level skill in both Java and Python
AWS experience is a plus
Open Source project contributions are a plus

Manage a team of software engineers, including task planning and code reviews.
Drive technical projects and provide leadership in an innovative and fast-paced environment.
Take responsibility for the overall planning, execution and success of complex technical projects.
Contribute technically to projects.
Work closely with product management team to ensure we're building the best and scalable products.
